Goat Stew

Ingredients: 

  • 500g goat meat, cut into pieces
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 2 minced garlic cloves
  • 2 chopped tomatoes
  • 2 teaspoons colombo powder (or curry powder)
  • 1 Scotch Bonnet pepper (or habanero pepper), chopped (according to your spice tolerance)
  • 3 cups water
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat. Sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic until golden.

  2. Add the goat meat to the pot and brown it on all sides.

  3. Mix in the chopped tomatoes, colombo powder, chopped pepper, salt, and pepper. Stir well to coat the meat with the spices.

  4. Pour the water into the pot and bring it to a boil. Then, reduce the heat, cover, and simmer for about 1.5 to 2 hours until the meat is tender and the flavors are well blended.

  5. Serve this delicious goat stew with rice and fried plantains for a spicy and heartwarming Haitian feast!
